The purposes of this project are using the data from the CLSA to: 1) validate a model for community ambulation that was developed for stroke patients (Barclay et al. (2014)), 2) develop a model for mobility based on a conceptual framework (Webber et al. (2010)) for people aged 65+ and people with arthritis on knees or hips, respectively. In addition, measurement invariance was tested for age and sex.

The purposes of this project are using the data from the GOOUT to: a) develop a model adapted from the conceptual framework of the GOOUT intervention (Salbach et al. (2019)), b) explore the complex relationship among individual characteristics and environmental characteristics and outdoor walking in older adults with outdoor walking difficulties.

This council was built by Naomi Hamm, Marcello Nesca and Yixiu Liu with support from the CHI leadership since May 2020. Our role is to be a connection between CHI leadership and trainees (graduate students & postdocs) to help them better adapt to graduate life, develop professional skills and get prepared before entering the workforce, as well as improve trainees’ experience working/studying at CHI through organizing events and workshops.

Yixiu serves as the educational rep and the department council rep on the CHS student council.
Led by, the 2023 Candadian Youth Delegate
Yixiu Liu isserved on the advisor committee for the 2023 Canadian Youth Delegate. The mandate was to advise and work closely with the delegate to engage youth in roundtable discussion(s) and the formulation of recommendations for Canada’s position on global health policies/priorities related to pandemic preparedness/response. Yixiu works part-time as a Biostatistician at the Cardiac Science Manitoba at the St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB. She provides statistical consulting and conducts data analysis for a research team with primary members of Dr. Shuangbo Liu, Dr. John Ducas, Dr. Lorraine Avery, and Dr. Ashish Shah.
